Sexual Preferences: Male

💚 Tricks to Her Heart 💚
Paladins: Something about their valiant natures, the "knight in shining armor" trope makes her blush a bit. Something about the way a paladin twirls their sword before striking an enemy is visually appealing, or something about their confidence and righteousness. It could be thanks to a certain erotic novel that glamorized the relationship between a paladin and a black mage that sparked this preference of hers.
Companionship/Partner-in-Crime: Not that she participates in illegal activity, but she finds having company while working, on missions or investigations, or whatever she is working on, is endearing to her. Someone who will be her partner on her path, rather than a hindrance. She's a busy lady, anyone who can keep up with that is bound to impress her.
Nursing the Sick: Now she is a healer by trade. It would be weird if she didn't enjoy taking care of others, fussing over them, worrying over them. She hates seeing someone hurt or wounded, but deep down, she likes to feel needed and useful in taking care of the people she loves. The dichotomy that is Tayori.
Mutual Interests: She doesn't consider herself to be a very compelling or fun person, but if there is someone with whom she can be herself with, either talking about her romance novels or herbal remedies and studies, or simply enjoying each other's company and the same hobbies, then that person is someone she can easily fall for.
Rose Gold Jewelry: Rose gold and gold jewelry look the best on her skin and prefers that material over diamond, silver or any other metals that are found in all of Etheirys. So if someone is thinking of a simple, girly gift, gold is the way to go.

💚 ABILITIES & PHYSICAL TRAITS & FUN FACTS 💚
Aether-sense. Can sense and see aether in the natural world, environment and in living beings without the help of aether goggles.
Fear of mimics. A fear she obtained when she was young, when she was sent to Thavnair alone. She loses herself to fear and disgust at the sight of them. She hates them quite viscerally.
Has a dainty physique for a Roegadyn. As she is half Hyur and half Hellsguard, she has the facial structure of a Roegadyn but softened. She is rather petite and far more refined and feminine than the average Roegadyn woman.
Adopted a griffin hatchling she named Tadeo. During her service as a healer and support to the Scions, she was swept to Coerthus after the Scions were branded fugitives. Travelling with Alphinaud and the others that were with him at the time, she was lucky enough to visit the Sea of Clouds in Abalathia's Spine. There, a starving griffin hatchling was separated from its flock. It happily accepted Tayori's food and became her loyal companion, was well-trained, and grew strong. Tayori learned that griffins historically served as mounts for the Ala Mhigan army, which once maintained a regiment of gryphon–back soldiers to harass enemies. (The minion is canon, just pretend its a full-grown griffin 😜).
Owns an island in the Cieldalaes. After successfully acquiring a good number of patients, Tayori was able to convince her grandfather to expand her family's influence westward and bought a tropical island within the Cieldalaes south of the mainland of Vylbrand on behalf of her family to cultivate herbs, poisons, and animals for medicinal purposes. She maintains the island herself from time to time but while she is away, is maintained by mammets. If something ails you, she's bound to figure something out (with a way more affordable price than what she is SUPPOSED to charge).

RP Hooks :

  • PLOT ORIENTED: Battle of Carteneau:

  • Tayori was present during the Battle of Carteneau as a support-adventurer aligned with the Twin Adders. Though she was training with the conjurer's guild before being drafted, she was a Samurai and Astro at the time of the Calamity and wielded her katana in battle while defending the backlines and helped heal the wounded. In the midst of the chaos, the Dreadwyrm Bahamut is released, wreaking havoc on the battlefield indiscriminately. During a tense standoff with a Garlean soldier, Tayori is hit and flung back by a stray Imperial cannon blast, knocking her out and causing her to lose consciousness in the middle of the battlefield, unable to get up or save herself. No one is sure who had picked up her motionless body from the ground while the Dreadwyrm raged on, but she was safely taken back to Gridania with the other wounded Twin Adder soldiers. To this day, she could not find out who it was that saved her, unable to thank them for it.

  • PLOT ORIENTED: Childhood Acquaintance:

  • When Tayori was around 11 or 12 years old, she participated in an exchange program in the Northern Isles with the people of Old Sharlayan. During this time, she learned about aether, astrology, and Sage skills. In exchange, she reported to the Forum on her family's well-known healing techniques and alchemical creations, which had been patented by her family. At such a young age, Tayori found herself surrounded by scientists and scholars who were twice her age, but she likely met someone her age during that time, her memories of her childhood are hazy due to her mother's death. While she may not remember everyone she encountered, she vaguely recalls making one or two friends there.

  • PLOT ORIENTED: Marriage Proposals.

  • Tayori is the heir to the far eastern physician/apothecary company coined "Kudoyuki Curatives", a company whose family dates back to the years of war during and after the Age of Blood in Hingashi. The Kudoyuki clan was small, and in order to survive the fires of war, they allied themselves with Kanzan of the Mitsurugi clan, who were the rulers of Onokuni that came to power. The Kudoyuki family’s knowledge of medicinal herbs, potions, poisons, and even enhancement elixirs was extremely helpful to the Mitsurugi clan’s leader, Kanzan, who was not skilled in the arts of war but was a peerless politician and strategist. Kanzan forged alliances through marriage, a practice that is still in practice to this very day to garner political power, alliances, and wealth. Since Tayori is the heir to the family's legacy, having taken her family's work overseas and is in charge of her family's foreign affairs in Eorzea while her father manages local clients in Hingashi, her controlling grandfather has taken it upon himself to focus on the family's legacy and continued prosperity by sending Tayori numerous marriage candidates and proposals either by letter or by sending the suitor directly to her doorstep in Eorzea. Anyone he deemed powerful or rich enough or wanted something from could be a suitor.

  • Tayori takes on private clients as a Hingan concierge healer.

  • She was trained in all manner of medical techniques, including but not limited to: acupuncture, Eorzean medicines, agriculture, foraging and botany, poisons, blood to aether transfusions, Geomancy, conjury, curses, charms, aether ailments, and many, many other techniques and practices. This allows her to take on clients privately in their homes or settlements in Eorzea. She will either do home visits, take them to her private island, or perform treatments in her clinic in the Shroud at the Hammer-N-Ale artisan's tavern. If anyone is in need of treatment that can't be solved with her resources in the clinic, she will take them to the private island that offers way more rare and abundant supplies than are available on the mainland.

  • Tayori was a member of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn and is a Captain for the 'Order of the Twin Adders'.

  • Her missions with her Aurelia Privateer Squadron (a foreign Levy that answers directly to High Commander Vorsaile Heuloix), the Scions, and the other various organizations she is affiliated with have granted her the rare luxury of being all over the realm wherever she was needed. Thus, an adventurer or any local to the area may have seen her in more places than one for the brief moments she was there on business in the past. She is always willing to help anyone in need, all they have to do is ask.

  • Tayori adores adult romance literature;

  • A luxury she was introduced to by her mother, they would read together these questionable, yet interesting erotic novels side by side as she grew up. Her most treasured series is called "Black Magicka", made by a mysterious female elezen author, named Auldianne Luitovelle, who died before publishing the last and third manuscript in her trilogy. This series is about a criminal, female elezen who lost her baby at birth and turned to necromancy in an effort to summon her child back from the dead. She became an accomplished and renowned black mage who was then apprehended and caught by a male Miqo'te paladin. The two fell in love, despite their differences. If you have heard of the story or know where the third book was secretly stashed before the author died, Tayori would love to hear it.

TitleSynopsis
Black Magicka - by Auldianne LuitovelleThis is Tayori's favorite series of all time, written by a mysterious female elezen author, named Auldianne Luitovelle, who died before publishing the last and third manuscript in her trilogy. "Black Magicka" is a gripping and illicit series that delves into the depths of love, loss, and the dangerous allure of forbidden magic. At its heart is Ystride Logedanrel, a hauntingly beautiful Wildwood Elezen whose life was irrevocably altered by tragedy. After the devastating loss of her baby at birth, Ystride turns to the dark arts of necromancy, desperate to summon her child back from the mysterious aetherial sea. In a hidden sanctum known only to her, she preserves her baby's body in a magicked frozen stasis, clinging to a hope that defies the very laws of life and death. Her prowess in the dark arts earns her a formidable reputation, but it also attracts the relentless pursuit of Qahs’a (pronounced Kass), a stalwart Keeper of the Moon paladin sworn to uphold justice and protect the sanctity of life. Their initial encounters ignite a thrilling game of cat and mouse, an "enemies to lovers" saga where tension crackles like lightning in the air. As Qahs spends a year chasing Ystride, the lines between hunter and hunted blur, culminating in a passionate confession of their true feelings for one another. In a shocking act of love, Qahs sacrifices his sacred oath to aid Ystride in her quest to reclaim what she has lost. The second installment of the series plunges deeper into the turmoil of their entwined destinies. Haunted by self-doubt, Ystride questions her motivations and the moral implications of Qahs' betrayal of his principles. As they uncover an ancient Allagan ritual capable of summoning spirits from the aether, the stakes soar. Qahs wrestles with the conflicting desires to protect the sanctity of the dead against his profound love for Ystride, while she teeters on the precipice of having her baby back. The mounting tension creates a rift between the lovers, leading to an explosive climax filled with passion and discord. As their relationship teeters on the edge of destruction, the second volume concludes with a gripping cliffhanger that leaves readers breathless. Will they overcome the forces that threaten to rip them apart or succumb to the weight of their choices? The much-anticipated third book promises to reveal whether Ystride and Qahs can navigate the perilous consequences of their actions and find their way to a happy ending. Yet, in a tragic twist of fate, the manuscript of their conclusion is lost to time, leaving the world in mourning over their unresolved love story—a haunting reminder of the lengths one would go for love, even when it dances dangerously close to darkness.
Swords & Shields - by Varric Tethras (for DragonAge Fans😘)Set in the austere, snowbound city of Ishgard, "Swords & Shields" follows the rigid and revered Temple Knight Commander Seraphyne Vaelmont, a woman wholly devoted to duty, faith, and the protection of the Holy See. Her carefully controlled life is disrupted when she is assigned to oversee a patrol alongside Rheinhardt “Rhein” Alderic, an earnest and unrefined Temple Knight whose sincerity clashes with her cold discipline. What begins as a routine investigation into heretical activity soon entangles them in a series of unsettling disturbances across Coerthas, from suspected heretics to strange sightings in the snow-choked wilderness. These events force them into close quarters where professional tension slowly gives way to unspoken attraction. Rhein’s quiet bravery and unexpected tenderness begin to fracture Seraphyne’s emotional restraint. Her strength and hidden vulnerability leave him increasingly unable to deny his feelings. Both remain bound by rank, duty, and the rigid expectations of Ishgardian society, which turns every interaction into a struggle between longing and obligation. Stolen glances and nearly spoken confessions blur the line between devotion and desire. Just as the truth of their feelings begins to surface, an unseen threat emerges from the shadows. It cuts their moment short and leaves both their fate and their confession hanging in a dramatic cliffhanger that compels readers to continue despite its indulgent melodrama and repetitive romantic tension.
Desert 'UL - by Nanamuko Raramuko (Bridgerton for Eorzea)In this fantasy written by an Ul'dahn commoner who titled it as a play on words with Desert Jewel, at the heart of this decadent narrative lies an enchanting Sultana, whose opulent palace serves as the stage for a thrilling contest. To the couple that can prove their genuine love and ignite her passions, she promises a reward of gleaming gil, fertile land, and a sumptuous wedding within the palace’s lavish halls. However, amidst the grandiosity, the noble families have their eyes set not on love, but on political gain. They scheme and manipulate, seeking to forge alliances rather than heartfelt unions. Against this backdrop, we meet the spirited daughter of a rich Monetarist family, a woman who despises the tradition of marrying for profit. Yearning for true love, she dares to dream of a life beyond the gilded cage, where pleasure and passion reign. Teaming up with a strikingly handsome Count of the Syndicate, they craft a deceitful proposal of courtship, intending to outwit the very system that seeks to bind them. The Count, haunted by the legacy of his violent family, has sworn never to have children, vowing to halt the cycle of darkness that shadows his lineage. His intentions are far from sincere, yet the chemistry that simmers between them is undeniable. As their farcical courtship unfolds, what begins as a ploy blossoms into an intoxicating dance of desire. With every stolen glance and whispered secret, they discover an undeniable compatibility that goes beyond mere subterfuge. The air crackles with lingering touches and heated glances, each encounter charged with an undercurrent of erotic tension. Their initial charade becomes a deliciously tangled web of lust and longing, as the lines between deception and authenticity blur. In a world where passion and politics intertwine, their journey becomes a thrilling exploration of the heady heights of desire and the risks of surrendering to the heart. As they navigate the treacherous waters of societal expectations, they find themselves irresistibly drawn to one another, igniting a fire that cannot be easily extinguished. Will their deception lead to a deeper love, or will the pressures of their world tear them apart? "Desert 'UL" is a sumptuous tale of erotic exploration, where love dares to flourish in the most unexpected of places, promising readers a passionate experience that will linger long after the final page.

He is, in truth, a dragon glamoured into human form, a heretic fighting against the oppressive doctrines of the church. As their passion ignites, they embark on a forbidden affair, filled with ecstasy and despair, knowing their union defies the very laws of faith. When their love story is deemed heretical, the manuscript detailing their romance is spirited away just before the church can destroy it, preserving their tale of longing and sacrifice. This haunting narrative explores the intense struggle between love and ideology, showcasing how their bond transcends the boundaries of duty, leading to both euphoric heights and heartbreaking consequences.
Before the Mast - by Phillein de Blancan Ishgardian Noble finds his glittering life in high society shattered by a scandal as treacherous as it is elaborate. Together with the challenging and feisty female captain of the sky-pirates, he delves into the seedy underbelly of both Eorzea and Ishgard. Here, the noble discovers a fierce camaraderie among his new companions and their femme fatale Captain, who are all a merry band of misfits united by their defiance against the rigid societal structures that dictated their lives. The Lusty Ananta Conscript – by Rhalgrin Bhaldrenn (for Elder Scrolls fans! The Lusty Argonian Maid retelling 😉)Set during the Garlean occupation of Ala Mhigo, The Lusty Ananta Conscript is a playful and scandalous stage play that follows Ssessaya, an unusually devoted Ananta conscript assigned to assist the rigid and easily flustered Garlean officer, Tribunus Marcellus var Dravus. What begins as a simple assignment within his quarters quickly spirals into a series of increasingly suggestive misunderstandings, as Ssessaya’s earnest yet pointed interpretations of “duty,” “service,” and “handling sensitive matters” leave the officer struggling to maintain both his composure and authority. The Kudoyuki Family's History

The Kudoyuki clan was small, and in order to survive the fires of war during the Age of Blood many, many centuries ago, they allied themselves with Kanzan of the Mitsurugi clan, rulers of Onokuni, who, with their help, came to power. The Kudoyuki family’s knowledge of medicinal herbs, potions, and even poisons was extremely helpful to the Mitsurugi clan’s leader, Kanzan, who was not skilled in the arts of war but was a peerless politician and strategist. Kanzan forged alliances through marriage and employed ninja to gain vital intelligence. Ninja who would return injured but healed by the Kudoyuki family's expertise. Kanzan restored the imperial house to power, declaring that the mandate he had to rule had been bequeathed to him by Emperor Hingan. Thus, the Mitsurugi clan became the true power behind the throne, and the Kudoyuki family secured a favorable position as royal physicians for many centuries to come, later establishing their own company and naming it “Kudoyuki Curatives”.In modern day, the Kudoyuki family serves aristocrats, royals, and the wealthy with their treatments and strictly in the Far East. Many who hailed from around the realm traveled east in order to experience their miracle treatments, and these are the prices for such esteemed customers.Tayori, who works in Eorzea, serves the poor and the needy and does not charge these exorbitant prices unless they are to wealthy families who clearly can afford it or who disrespected her in some way, shape, or fashion. The following treatments are what her family is famous for creating, but are not limited to using.

The Kiyosai Kugutsu Rite

Treatment DescriptionIngredientsCost
This ritual is a Far Eastern counterpart for correcting aetheric imbalance (tempering/aethersickness), especially when a patient’s channels have become misaligned due to excess astral or umbral aether of any aspected element. The treatment begins by preparing a fragrant herbal vapor. As the patient inhales, the vapor gently loosens stagnant aether and relaxes the meridians, allowing deeper work to commence. Once their aether starts to loosen, the Shinsei Kugutsu is brought forth, and aether channels are carefully tuned with astral or umbral aether, using whichever element is needed to restore balance into the Kugutsu. The puppet becomes a temporary vessel for this harmonizing energy. The Kugutsu is then placed against key meridian points: the chest, abdomen, and brow. Using noumenon aether manipulation, the puppet guides infused aether into the patient’s channels, letting the opposing polarity gently displace corrupted or excessive energy. Astral imbalance is soothed with controlled umbral grounding, while umbral congestion is relieved through astral revitalization. When the flow stabilizes and the patient’s natural aetheric signature returns to harmony, the meridians are sealed with pressure-point taps, locking in the corrected polarity. The ritual concludes with a calming lotus-and-kelp tea, grounding the spirit. As its duty ends, the Kugutsu fades back into inert clay and wood. This is not an immediate process as it is not like the porxie method used and developed in Eorzea; it takes at least three sessions over three days.• A kugutsu (a traditional Hingashi puppet often used for ceremonial rites)

Moonshadow Tonic

Treatment DescriptionIngredientsCost
This tonic is the only legally sanctioned Far Eastern sleep draught using Somnus, prepared only by master alchemists with royal approval, such as Tayori of the Kudoyuki line. It uses an extremely diluted drop of Somnus resin bound within herbal sedatives and aether-stabilizing agents. Unlike illicit Somnus, this tonic produces no hallucinations or dependency, instead guiding the mind into gentle, restorative slumber. After drinking the warm, faintly sweet tonic, drowsiness settles in within 10–20 minutes. The mixture quiets intrusive thoughts, loosens emotional tension, and slows the aether to a serene lunar rhythm. Users sleep deeply for 6–8 hours, waking clear-minded and comfortably rested, without the haze typical of stronger potions. The tonic should not be taken more than twice per week.• Somnus Resin (micro-dose diluted 1:300)
• Hingashi night-blooming herb
• Hawan Jasmine Extract
• Moon-Pearl Powder
• Sweet Rice-Milk Base

Birth & Origins:

Tayori was born on the 13th Sun of the 6th Umbral Moon (roughly the year 1551) to a Roegadyn father named Tokuda Kudoyuki and Midlander Hyur named Illane Leuvenogh in Kugane, Hingashi. An odd pairing to say the least, thus a small recap of their fateful meeting will be provided to explain how exactly Tayori, the miracle baby, came to be:-Illane Leuvenogh was born in the year 1528 during the Sixth Astral Era, almost 30 years after the Autumn War ended in Gridania. This young hyur’s family worked at the Mirror Plank Docks in Central Shroud, loading and unloading the small ships that passed through, transporting logs or other building materials, occasionally fishing to pass the time or put food on the table. Illane would often visit the Mirror while her parents were working to fawn over the Lily flowers that grew on the lake waters as a child. On the crux of her 14th year, on a day where she is visiting the Mirror to pick some of the lily flowers in the winter of 1542, she was struck with a sudden fever that raged throughout her body, causing her to faint and be brought back to Gridania. From then on, she was no longer able to make regular trips outside of the city to Lake Mirror like before. Her illness was later determined to be the incurable Aetherspurn sickness, a rare disease wherein the body becomes unable to draw aether from food resulting in the body growing weaker and weaker with every passing moment until they inevitably pass away. With no known cure for this mysterious disease, Illane was forced to remain in the city where she received palliative treatment from the mages of the Conjurer’s Guild, communing with the elementals every so often to attempt to delay the aetherial decay her body was undergoing. Yet, such rituals were not cheap nor were they any permanent means of adapting to her condition. Her parents attempted to spare every gil they earned on the treatments, Illane eventually opting to serve as a waitress in Carline Canopy, the tavern and adventurer’s guild, to help afford the ritual treatments to delay the decay and medicines that reduced her fevers attributed to the illness. It was challenging at times, but the work was not too strenuous. She was able to endure the disease for 6 long years making it now 1548 when waiting on the table of an Ishgardian nobleman travelling abroad after living a life of seclusion. He boasted and raved about the magickal medicines of the Far East, of a family of royal physicians who created miracle cure-all potions and magicked charms to ward off evil spirits or grant good fortune. This Ishgardian noble was afflicted with what was commonly referred to as “Red Throat” (similar to tuberculosis) and after paying a hefty sum of money to commission potions from the Far East was miraculously cured after just a few doses. He was no longer contagious nor had any symptoms, he was entirely cured and planned to see the realm, a dream never thought possible when nearly on his deathbed. Hearing his words, Illane put all of her hopes and prayers into the wish that it were true. The past few years have nearly driven her and her family broke. She decided to travel to the Far East in search of this noble family of physicians in hopes they would be able to cure her disease, and if not, she would not trouble her family any longer and allow herself to succumb to the sickness. This new goal took her two years to accomplish, saving gil to pay for the trip and what medicine she could afford to keep herself going until she got there. She lands upon the docks of Kugane at the age of 22, the only city in the Far East that was open to foreigners in the year 1550.-Tokuda Kudoyuki was born in the spring of 1526, of the Sixth Astral Era in Hingashi. He was born to a proud and aristocratic family of Hellsguard Roegadyn who served as the ruling family’s primary physicians for many generations after the Mitsurugi Clan founded the Bakufu which was 600 years after the Age of Blood. The Kudoyuki clan was small, and in order to survive the fires of war, they allied themselves with Kanzan of the Mitsurugi clan, rulers of Onokuni, who, with their help, came to power. The Kudoyuki family’s knowledge of medicinal herbs, potions, and even poisons was extremely helpful to the Mitsurugi clan’s leader, Kanzan, who was not skilled in the arts of war, but was a peerless politician and strategist. Thus, the Mitsurugi clan became the true power behind the throne, and the Kudoyuki family secured a favorable position as royal physicians for many centuries to come, later establishing their own company and naming it “Kudoyuki Curatives”.Tokuda was a gentle, and soft-spoken man. Given their family history, he had a lot to live up to. His father, the head of the Kudoyuki household Hiromitsu Kudoyuki, was a harsh and patriotic to a fault type of man. He forced his son to learn many fields of research, which ranged from acupuncture, medicine, agriculture, foraging and botany, spending time abroad in Thavnair to study their alchemical potions, poisons and teachings, blood to aether transfusions, conjury, curses, charms, aether ailments, and Geomancy (a Far Eastern art of reading the future, with many similarities to the arts of the White Mage and Astrologian by reading the stars and the movements of the earth, water and other elements), along with many, many other techniques and practices. His medicines and procedures were as legendary as the family he came from, his knowledge was unmatched. At one point the Sharlayan forum had sent an invitation letter to Tokuda in his prime years after word of his miraculous treatments and brilliant mind for illnesses had reached them all the way across to the Northern Empty to the far north of Eorzea. His grandfather received the letter on his behalf and vehemently refused due to the very strict isolationist policies Hingashi had. And likely out of pride.Yet, this young 24-year-old Roegadyn was at a complete impasse in 1550 when a foreign Midlander Hyur woman appeared on the doorstep of the small shop he was tending to at the time in the Kogane Dori markets. She was frail, weak, and burning to the touch with a fever that defied physical limits. When she appeared, she was unable to speak, and Tokuda was forced to give her emergency treatment on the floor of the shop, yet nothing he tried seemed to revitalize her. It became quickly apparent her condition was not physical, but aetherial in nature. After lowering her fever, providing pain medication, food, and water she was able to regain consciousness and explain the aetherspurn sickness she was cursed with. Her condition was unlike anything he had ever encountered before, yet once she had explained what it was, he knew that her treatment would not be simple. Nor would it be cheap. His father, the family head, was horrified to find the foreign woman was given FREE treatment by his usually ever-so-obedient son, not only because they were not being paid, but that she was an Ijin of foreign culture and foreign blood who dared impose herself on their business unannounced and so shamelessly. Yet, Tokuda could hardly blame the woman, she was dying, desperate and......just OOOHHHH so pretty to look at......Professional curiosity regarding her condition aside, he found the hyur woman breathtaking, and felt it a pity she should die before her time to such a fascinating yet cruel disease. Thus, did he defy his father, something he had never done before, and treated the woman in secret. He bought her an apartment to stay in and treated her there often using Geomancy to attune to the aether of the elementals (much like the rituals back in Gridania) in conjunction with what was known as a muscmaloi plant, an herb that possessed potent aether-fortifying properties whose cultivation was outlawed in Sharlayan for various dangerous reasons but completely legal outside of. Thankfully since his father denied the invitation to join the Forum, Tokuda had no reservations about using the plant. He would visit her often, grind herbs in her new home, and take her on trips around the city to attune to the elements where they were the strongest. In their time spent together, for the next year, her condition marginally improved, but she was not CURED (this is important). She became well enough to laugh, work as a waitress at the Umineko Tea House and even developed a relationship with the soft-spoken man. Perhaps thanks to the forbidden plant he used to amplify her aether, she ultimately was able to conceive a child with Tokuda and 9 months later Tayori was born, 1551.

From Childhood to Becoming an Adventurer:

Tayori’s birth was met with aggressive and heated arguments between the once soft-spoken Tokuda, who now had a will of his own, and his strict, ever-traditional father, Hiromitsu. Tokuda had kept the nature of his relationship with Illane secret for months until the very moment Tayori was born to be sure his father would not force Illane to get rid of the baby prematurely (either through bribe, manipulation, or threat on her life for this very purpose). Once Tayori was born, the deed would have already been done, and any arranged marriages Tokuda had were null and void now that he had a child born out of wedlock. To save face, Hiromitsu had no other choice than to permit Tokuda and Illane to marry. By the time Tayori was a month or two old she was officially part of the Kudoyuki household, but neither she nor her mother were allowed into Hingashi’s capital city of Koshu, home to the capital city of Bukyo. Koshu being the seat of Hingashi's Bakufu, rich with traded goods such as silks and spices and currently inaccessible to foreigners due to the isolationist policy passed by Emperor Reigen in 1552 shortly after Doma is conquered by the Garlean Empire. While Tokuda could come and go as he pleased from Kugane and the capital city, Tayori and her mother were forced to stay in Kugane, apart from the rest of the family, and treated like the illegitimate bastards of the Kudoyuki household that everyone thought they were. Not only that, but the mixed blood of a Midlander Hyur and Roegadyn ran through her veins, making her tiny, dainty stature the subject of public mockery and bullying at times when she was young (specifically by the other children and adults within the Kudoyuki family that valued appearances. Children around the city who didn’t know her family treated her like every other kid but she was too scared they would treat her differently to interact with them often and made very little friends in her youth). Tokuda and Illane loved her unconditionally, but the harsh scrutiny of her grandfather and extended family was not exactly pleasant to grow up with in Kugane.Given her mother was afflicted with aetherspurn, to be born with aether at all was a miracle, since Illane’s illness prevented the consumption of it. Having enough to carry a child and give the child the needed nutrients and energy to grow as a fetus and be born would have been an impossible feat were it not for Tokuda’s aether transfusion techniques and the muscmaloi plant-based potions he gave Illane, thinking that they were curing her condition when in truth, they weren’t. Tokuda came to solve the mystery of how Tayori was able to be born and why his wife’s illness returned a few months after their baby was born when Illane’s health began to decline again. At first he thought that the stress of dealing with his father’s ridicule and family judgement along with the new responsibilities a newborn called for while in a land she was not familiar with away from her own parents who she missed dearly made her feel ill, but as the years passed and Tayori grew into a toddler, Illane grew so ill it was like when she first arrived. She became bedridden, unable to absorb aether from food or other energies once again. Thinking back to when and how she got better, Tokuda came to the conclusion that the only reason she had gotten better during that time before Tayori was born was because of the aether transfusions and the muscmaloi plant potions he was giving her. They weren’t what soothed most of her conditions, they were being transmitted to the unborn baby she had inside her, rather than herself. Her body was being sustained by the aetherial energy of the baby inside her, the aether the baby was getting was from the transfusions and potions Illane was being treated with. Had she not been pregnant, the treatments most likely would have only delayed the inevitable. Tokuda did have a modicum of knowledge of aether magicks to know his daughter had developed aether sight and (from his time studying in Thavnair) had a sneaking suspicion that this was only the beginning of the type of skills or power his daughter would have after being exposed to muscmaloi in the womb. Unlike her mother who had very little aether, if any at all, Tayori was born with a plentiful amount of it thanks to her father's treatments.Around 1562, when Tayori is just about 11 years old, Illane's aetherspurn sickness worsens to a point that causes her to lose consciousness with a burning fever while home alone at the apartment, waiting for her daughter and husband to come home from their work at the shop. When Tayori and her father return home after a day spent learning to harness magick with alchemy, they see Illane lying unconscious in a damp pool of sweat on the bed and fever running rampant throughout her body. After a few stressful days watching her mother be treated by her father but never seeming to improve, seemingly never to wake, unable to speak or move, Tayori couldn’t help the feelings of dread, fear, and pain that were also mirrored by what her father was feeling as he watched his beloved wife grow weaker and weaker by the day. At the same time, after being rejected plenty of times yet another letter arrived from the Forum, one of many they had sent over the years, but her grandfather, in his stingy ways, refused working with them for years. Yet, this time her grandfather did not turn them away. He was aware the girl struggled controlling her growing aether and saw this as an opportunity to make use of Tokuda's daughter as a tool to be used for the family. Old Sharlayan, for all its arrogance, could teach her how to wield her magicks effectively and in doing so her potions and treatments would earn the family more money. Accepting the Forum’s long-standing request, he agreed to participate in an exchange program on one condition: Tayori would be the one to go, despite her young age. And to Tokuda’s surprise, Tayori accepted when her grandfather ordered her to go. Dreading her powerlessness, if there was a chance at getting better in order to help her mother recover, she took it.

From ARR to CURRENT:

Tayori sent a letter to her father in Kugane saying she’d be staying a little longer, who then expressed his parental worry that she was in a foreign country alone. However, considering how livid her grandfather had become that the family prodigy that he once spurned, mind you, had gone off on her own, thinking she’d run away, Tokuda thought it better for her to stay in Eorzea for the sake of getting her away from her stifling Hingan family. Tokuda sent her more than enough money to get settled, which she used to buy a home there in Gridania. Tayori then takes the opportunity to train with the Conjurer’s Guild to learn how healing magicks in Eorzea were performed. Despite her fumbling at first, she fit in surprisingly well with the other mages learning the techniques of white magic, even if she still preferred Astrology or nouliths since white magic was far too strong and potent, the risk to the environment she didn't really agree with.It is now 1572 of the Sixth and most recent Astral Era, where the Battle of Carteneau reshapes all of the realm. The northern empire of Garlemald amassed a great army at the heart of Eorzea, and in resistance, all of Eorzea was forced into an intense battle that subsequently led to the establishment of the Eorzean Alliance to meet their would-be conquerors in the field of battle. This alliance was comprised of the Grand Companies of Ul'dah, Gridania, and Limsa Lominsa against the forces of the VIIth Imperial Legion led by Nael van Darnus of the Garlean Empire, who were granted the go-ahead to use the dreaded Project Meteor on Eorzea as a safeguard against the emerging primal threats around the realm. Tayori is drafted into the war at age 21 now, accompanying the Gridanian forces as part of their contingent of White Mages and their lesser conjurers to tend to the wounded in battle. That isn’t to say Tayori did not have any battle skills of her own. She had trained in the art of the Astrologians and Sages in Old Sharlayan, not to mention her samurai training in her youth in Kugane, so she was able to hold her own against some of the Imperial soldiers who dared push the back lines where the wounded fled to. However, in the midst of the chaos, the Dreadwyrm Bahamut is released, who wreaks havoc on the battlefield indiscriminately. Both Imperial and Eorzean soldiers alike were caught in the wrath of the wyrm, whose massive, condensed aether swept over the field like a raging tsunami of power. Maddened after its long imprisonment, Bahamut laid waste to Eorzea. When attempting to help the wounded flee, Tayori is confronted by a Garlean soldier driven mad by the Dread Wyrm’s aether. She attempts to fight the soldier to protect the wounded who were still fleeing, but Tayori is hit and flung back by a stray Imperial cannon blast, causing her to lose consciousness in the middle of the battlefield, unable to get up or save herself. No one saw what brave soldier, recruit or hero had picked up her motionless body from the ground while the Dreadwyrm raged on, but she was safely taken back to Gridania with the other wounded Twin Adder soldiers after the great sage, Louisoix Leveilleur, summons the power of the Twelve to defeat the Primal, and in doing so, sacrificing his life to bind it.Excluding Tayori, the rest of the survivors of the battle awake to an Eorzea forever changed by Bahamut's fury and begin to rebuild as best they can. Tayori, however, remains in a coma for 6 months after being tended to by chirurgeons and mages. When she awoke, she was told that in thanks for her deeds when defending soldiers back in the battlefield almost a year ago, give or take a few months, she expertly represented the extraordinary skill she honed with her nouliths, her alchemy and magick, and was offered enlistment into the Order of the Twin Adders. Tayori hesitated at first, unsure of accepting the offer, as that meant she’d be abandoning her family’s business in the Far East to be part of the organizations of Eorzea. She wasn’t sure how her father would take that, but knew her grandfather would be furious, that was for sure. It didn’t take long for her to come to a decision, though. She readily accepted the Elder Seedseer’s offer to join the Order of the Twin Adders and, with her healing capabilities as an Astro/Sage and skill with potions, herbs, and alchemy, soared through the ranks of the Adders rather quickly and with relative ease. For her accomplishments when handling the missions assigned to her with skill and expertise, the Elder Seedseer wanted to thank her personally once again, but it happened to be in the presence of two Scions of the Seventh Dawn agents who attended the meeting to discuss other matters with the Seedseer, who just so happened to recognize her. It was Papalymo who was the one that recognized her from her time studying in Sharlayan when she was a child. Seeing this as some kind of fated meeting, he decided to invite her to join the Scions and when Tayori agreed to meet them in Vesper Bay, she learned quite a few of the legendary Circle of Knowing members she had heard rumors of when she was a child from her exchange program in Old Sharlayan had joined this organization. Young and inexperienced that she was, they recognized her good will and they opened their arms to her anyway and from that point on, she was a member of the Scions in addition to her Twin Adders position as Captain. Her journey with the Scions consisted of supporting them in defeating the XIVth Legion by halting Gaius van Baelsar during the massive mission titled Operation: Archon by being in charge of the wounded and supplies. Afterward, the Scions of the Seventh Dawn were invited to a celebratory banquet held in Ul'dah in their honor, as everyone should already know. Tayori was invited by proxy. The gathering served as the scene of a diabolical conspiracy plot that was masterminded by a member of the Syndicate who orchestrated the attempted assassination of the Sultana, poisoning her wine and blaming it on the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. In the ensuing chaos, Tayori was forced to flee with the small group of Scions that were left, who then made an unexpected retreat to Coerthus, where they were given sanctuary by one of the high houses of Ishgard, House Fortemps.

In order to see her father and grandfather, Tayori must double down and help the Scions free Doma from Garlean reign, becoming an active participant in the main storyline of Stormblood. Helping from the side-lines to unite the Xaela tribes of Othard, defeat the acting Imperial Viceroy of Doma, Yotsuyu goe Brutus, and with the apparent death of their acting leader, the remaining Garleans retreat, and Doma is free of Imperial rule. After Doma is freed, Tayori is given a special pass into Koshu in acknowledgment of her deeds, and she uses this to confront her grandfather in person, head of the Kudoyuki family, Hiromitsu Kudoyuki. She stands her ground and demands that he acknowledge her as the rightful heir. Her grandfather has no choice but to accept her in recognition of her skill and achievements. Her father steps down as the heir and gives his responsibilities over to his daughter eagerly, proud of the woman she has become. Yet, her work is not done. He bids her to go back to Eorzea and finish her work with her new merry band of friends within the Scions while he manages the family's clients in Hingashi on her behalf. Tayori then returns to Eorzea to assist the Scions in saving the rest of the realm from the Garlemald Empire to ensure the continued safety of the rest of her family and friends. From that day on, she continued the Scions' campaign to the end, making her father, and hopefully her late mother, proud of her accomplishments. After the Final Days was thwarted by the Scions, and they disbanded after saving the world, Tayori’s mother’s illness sparked a new lifelong obsession with finding a cure for the aetherspurn disease. She starts a full-on investigation now that she has more time to spend researching when not on a mission for the Twin Adders, handling her family's business by trading their potions and treatments to the wealthy in Eorzea or to the chirurgeons in different areas of western Eorzea, or treating private clients and patients on her family's island or at their own residences if they cannot afford to travel. This is now how she spends her days, from one mission to the next with her squadron, from one client to the next, mixing potions for her family's business, and when there is downtime, foraging for ingredients, concocting remedies and researching aether to solve the mystery that killed her mother while sending her findings and reports back to her father in Hingashi and alchemists in Thavnair and professors in Old Sharlayan who have agreed to help her with her research. Her grandfather may have accepted her, but this by no means meant he was going to leave her to her own devices. Now, as the new heir, he demands that she wed and find a husband of noble standing who would benefit the business, reminiscent of the marriages of convenience and power that the Mitsurugi clan leader had employed to help him win the wars after the Age of Blood in Hingashi. Her grandfather is constantly sending her prospective marriage suitors and demanding her return to Kugane to attend dinners and meet-ups that she has artfully avoided by being busy. It's another reason why she keeps herself busy, to avoid getting hitched before achieving her goals. Woe is Tayori.
